Feeding Children Everywhere Event Host, Relay for Life Committee Member
“I always knew I enjoyed helping people and putting smiles on their faces, but I was always the shy one who kept to herself. After being introduced to HOBY my sophomore year, my whole world turned upside down. I went from dreaming to doing, and by the end of my senior year I was the leader of 7 organizations and hosted my own Feeding Children Event, where we packed 36,520 meals that went back into our county. My passion is working with children and helping them learn that they are the future and that they have every right to become anything they want. There are no barriers, if you really put your mind to something; one step towards your dream is all it takes. HOBY and ALA have taught me that NO ONE is insignificant, EVERYONE leaves a mark on this earth and it’s your choice to make your own mark a movement."

"During my sophomore year, I sat next to a friend and fellow swim teammate in my Pre-Calculus class who had many absences, but never complained about making up all the missed school work or swim practices. My friend suffers from the auto-immune disease lupus."
"After attending HOBY Texas Gulf Coast and the World Leadership Congress, I was inspired to make a difference. That difference was to start Splash Out Lupus in honor of my friend. The coaches within my school district set rivalries aside to participate in Splash Out Lupus. The fundraiser encouraged swimmers to collect pledges for laps that they swum. Together, we raised $12,554 for lupus research and community outreach programs. In September, I reached out to the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association and the group agreed to promote Splash Out Lupus as a fundraiser for swim teams statewide. Attending HOBY made me realize that I could make difference."
